Bobby Koven, Founder and Executive Director

Bobby Koven is a seasoned entrepreneur. Since 2018 he has become an endearing advocate for mental health awareness. Bobby reaches out to diverse audiences with a message of hope for those individuals and families afflicted with mental health issues. Dispelling the myths, smashing the misconceptions, and challenging the prejudices surrounding mental health, Bobby delivers a hard-hitting message- there is No Magic Bullet, just hard work and lots of practice and patience, and he ought to know. Diagnosed in his early twenties with Tourette’s Syndrome, he now looks back on his past behavior with a new perspective. Drawing on this life experience, Bobby tries his best to erase the stigmas surrounding mental health issues. He has released documentary “No Magic Bullet” which is a success story that exposes some of his realities of dealing with mental health. Bobby is also host of a monthly podcast “What’s in your Toolbox” and author of a weekly newsletter 5-Monday Moments.

Board of Directors

Mark Bernick, Chairman

Mark Bernick was born in New Waterford Nova Scotia, on Cape Breton Island. In 1982 Mark relocated to Toronto and for the past 30 plus years he has been an entrepreneur.

He is currently a partner in Words That Work, a company that creates user and developer content for software companies. Mark has been a board member for business and community organizations. He understands the importance of a well governed board and the important role it plays in an organization’s success.

Mark has a strong interest in identifying and providing meaningful resources to help support people coping with mental health challenges.

Steven Picov, Treasurer

Steven has been a CPA by profession for over forty-four years and, therefore, has an extensive accounting background. For the past twenty-six years, he has been employed as a member of a team which manages a construction company.

He is currently the Director of a Condominium Board which has resulted in a thorough understanding of how condominium buildings work. He was a member of the Renovation Committee and is currently a member of the Budget and Finance Committee and board, which has kept him knowledgeable and involved in running a condominium building.

Rob Tock, Secretary

Rob has been a businessperson for 44 years, recently retiring from a role as Vice President Finance & Operations with a respected medium sized Canadian owned commercial bakery.

Of more specific relevance to the Board role, Rob dedicated 2 ½ years as a responder to The Distress Centre of Greater Toronto and the Talk Suicide Hotlines. These important public services provided mental health support to thousands of people every month and, I believe, are a critical part of the overall mental health services of Toronto and communities throughout Ontario and beyond.

Additionally, Rob was a podcast guest in season 3 of No Magic Bullet providing insights to the Distress Centre role and the work of this organization. Rob joins as a member of the Board of Directors as he strongly believes that No Magic Bullet will provide additional support in this critical area of mental health awareness and community response.

Patricia Rockman, MD CCFP FCFP

Patricia Rockman is an associate professor with the University of Toronto, department of family and community medicine; cross-appointed to psychiatry. She is a medical psychotherapist focussing on mindfulness-based programs. She also provides mentorship and trains clinicians to deliver MBCT and MBSR. Patricia has been educating healthcare providers in stress reduction, CBT, and mindfulness-based practices for over 20 years. More recently she has become involved in psychedelic-assisted therapy training. She is the co-founder and advisor of Education and Clinical Services at the Centre for Mindfulness Studies and the developer of the MBCT Facilitation Certificate Program. She has co-authored a number of publications in the areas of mindfulness and mental health.

Andy Blackwell

Andy Blackwell joins the Board of No Magic Bullet as an active and energetic Sales Professional in the world of Natural Foods. Throughout his career, Andy has grown Start-ups to Mid-size and integrated these organizations into larger corporate entities. Andy spent the bulk of his career holding senior management positions at large CPG and Multi-national companies with both significant structure and financial rigour. Andy has been involved in and supported numerous charities including as a board member at Beaver Valley Ski Club. He has served on many committees with We Care in the foodservice channel as well as numerous charity road racing events. He enjoys his time and contribution volunteering at a grass roots level as a long-time Volunteer Camp Councillor at Camp Fire Circle as well as ski coaching and various coaching positions. He has coached youth sports extensively.

Andy lives in Grey County and runs country roads for both mental health and training to compete in his Age-Group Marathons and other distances around the world. He is a holder of the Abbott Six-Star Medal and 7-time Boston Marathon Qualifier and Finisher. He recently ran his lifetime Marathon personal best at the age of 60 proving discipline, recovery and consistency are the key to success and more importantly evolution and personal growth. Rob Fawcett - Community Volunteer

Rob Fawcett was born and raised in the Flesherton-Markdale area completing his post-secondary education at Humber College of Applied Arts and Technology, Toronto. After receiving a funeral service diploma and provincial license he worked in Brampton, Oakville, Hamilton and eventually purchased his own businesses in Victoria County, Ontario in 1984. In 1990 he and his family returned home to Flesherton to operate the family business Fawcett Funeral Home and shortly after establishing Georgian Bay Cremation Services Ltd.

Currently Rob spends much of his time volunteering to local community concerns such as Centre Grey Health Services Foundation, dedicated to financially supporting the Bright Shores Health System, comprising of 5 community hospitals in Grey and Bruce counties. This funding also supports the Brightshores Wellness and Recovery Centre in Owen Sound, dedicated to mental health services. Rob also supports and volunteers at the Hanley Institute, Flesherton, a youth centre providing counselling and activities for youth of elementary and secondary aged children.

Greg Bandler - Supporter of Learning Disabilities

Greg Bandler joins the Board of No Magic Bullet as a recently retired, seasoned entrepreneur and business executive. Throughout his career, Greg has been involved in establishing and launching new start-ups as well as holding senior management positions in large corporate companies. Greg has been involved in and supported numerous charities as a board member at Integra (summer program for children and young adults with learning disabilities and mental health issues) and Chairman of the Board of Dunblaine School (for students with unique learning disabilities). Greg’s adult son is an accomplished Special Olympian, proudly competing at the World Games in Abu Dhabi in 2019 as a powerlifter, earning two gold and two silver medals for Canada.

Alison McLay - Psychotherapist

Allison McLay, a resident of Grey County, is a Registered Psychotherapist with a practice in assessment and counselling for over 30 years in social services, university, and private practice settings. She is a long-time facilitator of mindfulness groups, including MBCT and MBSR, and provides professional training for those seeking certification to deliver Mindfulness-Based Programs. Over the last few years, she has been engaged in curriculum development and teaching of mindfulness-based wellness and treatment programs, working with front-line social service workers and university students. Consistent with her interest in both mindfulness and youth, she co-authored The Mindful Teen Workbook, published by New Harbinger in 2022.

Kaili Stackhouse - Osteopath

Kaili Stackhouse is a dedicated Osteopathic Manual Practitioner in Collingwood, Ontario with over 12 years of experience in manual therapy. Known for her compassionate and intuitive approach, Kaili works one-on-one with patients to support deep healing- physically, mentally, and emotionally. Her practice is rooted in the belief that the body holds innate wisdom and, when given the right support, can return to balance and vitality. By blending hands-on techniques with a holistic perspective, she helps individuals reconnect with their bodies, ease chronic tension and foster a stronger mind-body-soul connection. Kaili is deeply committed to creating a safe and empowering space for each client, guiding them towards greater awareness, wellness, and self-trust. Sue Lantz - Educator

Sue Lantz, B.A. M.P.A, Founder and Managing Director, Collaborative Aging- Educator Sue is a trusted policy expert, educator, and advocate, in the field of healthy aging and caregiving. In 2016, Sue founded Collaborative Aging to focus on expanding innovative and practical models of housing, healthcare, caregiver supports, to enable healthy and empowered aging in place within the community.

In 2020, Sue released a user-friendly guidebook called, Options Open: The Guide for Mapping Your Best Aging Journey (c). Along with the guidebook, Sue partners with organizations to deliver educative workshops that help older adults proactively make informed plans and timely choices for their later life. The goal is to successfully make aging related transitions and ensure more sustainable caregiving experiences.

Catherine C. Smart – Coaching and Nonprofit Leadership

Catherine is a dynamic leader and changemaker with over three decades of experience in project management, professional coaching, accessibility solutions, and nonprofit leadership. She recently stepped down from serving as the Executive Director of Living Better with Parkinson’s, where she led a grassroots charitable organization supporting those living with Parkinson’s in South Georgian Bay. Catherine is also a founding partner of Smart Move Inc., a consultancy specializing in leadership development, accessibility audits, and coaching.

Her work has spanned continents—from spearheading the revival of Bhutan’s historic Trans Bhutan Trail to launching inclusive tourism initiatives with the Toronto Convention and Visitor’s Association. Catherine has consistently demonstrated a commitment to empowering communities, fostering collaboration, and driving systemic change.

An award-winning advocate and certified coach, she is recognized for her ability to shift mindsets and spark transformation. With a strong foundation in recreation leadership and a lifetime of community service, Catherine brings purpose, empathy, and innovation to everything she does.

John Nesbitt - Registered Massage Therapist (RMT)

John is a graduate of the Fanshawe College, Massage Therapy program and has been a Registered Massage Therapist since 2017. John’s focus is relieving the body of tension while creating a safe and nurturing environment. He believes that receiving massage can help nourish our body and mind alike, which in return can benefit our relationship with ourselves and those around us. John has worked professionally with many clients who have mental health concerns as well as supporting friends and family. He prides himself on making his treatment room a safe and open space for people to feel comfortable expressing themselves as much or as little as they like.

Julie Mitchell - Certified Health Coach through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition.

Julie has been working with the light therapy since May of 2020. She has always had a passion for health & well-being and is also a Certified Health Coach through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. Most recently she completed her Level 2 Reiki and plans to continue her studies in energy healing as a complement to her offering as a Light Practitioner.

Julie’s first career was in Insurance & Financial Planning where she worked alongside her father in a family owned and operated brokerage. She has in depth knowledge in this space and 20 years experience in this field.

Helping others has always been at the heart of Julie’s work – whether guiding clients through financial planning, ensuring families are protected, or now, through light meditation supporting mental health and overall well-being. Her passion and purpose have always been rooted in empowering others to feel safe, supported and aligned in all areas of their lives.

Dan Fotopolus - Certified Performance Neuroscience Coach with the Flow Research Collective

Dan is a visionary community builder, serial entrepreneur, and certified Performance Neuroscience Coach with the Flow Research Collective. Guided by the mantra "If you can't find the community, create it," Dan has over 15 years of experience in leadership, personal growth, and conscious community-building. As co-founder of Everlove and the Everlove Festival, as well as co-owner of Hustl & Flow, Dan is dedicated to creating transformative experiences that foster connection and growth.

He leads the Everlove Men's Group, a collective of over 70 men who meet weekly in heart-centered circles. His certification with the Flow Research Collective allows him to help others unlock peak states of performance, enhancing creativity, productivity, and decision-making. Julie Starr - Life Coach

Julie Starr completed a BFA with honors in Dance Therapy from York University in the eighties and spent years working in schools and a short run in a psychiatric care hospital. She then transferred from therapy to coaching. She is a graduate of Coach U, a life coaching school that equips leaders with skills and strategies to motivate others to take action and realize their unique potential. Julie has long been a dreamer and a doer. Her life path has been driven by her attention to important issues and recognizing when there is a need for change. Mark Collings - Addiction Support

Mark Collings is television producer, director, and an interactive media specialist. As a project manager, television producer and online learning developer he has had the privilege of working on a diverse portfolio of media projects. This work has taken him across Canada and overseas. He is a graduate of the Algonquin College Film Program and the Centennial College Interactive Media Program.

Mark has worked with leading private companies, broadcasters, not for profits, government, and educational institutions to create dynamic and innovative media products.

Mark was one of the original founders of No Magic Bullet establishing it as a Not For Profit for the purpose of producing the documentary. No Magic Bullet.

Mark continues to be involved in the are of addiction as a member of Alcoholics Anonymous. Over the past 38 years he has and continues to be a sponsor and works with various men’s groups as a support system as well as doing service work at the detox center in Red Deer.

Nicole Ripley McIntyre - Registered Holistic Nutritionist

Nicole is a Registered Holistic Nutritionist. She is passionate about all the delicious, nutritious foods that help us to feel our best. In her earlier years, she had the opportunity to work for a company that sourced the best, most nutrient dense superfoods from countries with the healthiest soil in the world. Food became more than just something to please her palate, but a form of medicine that could be used to replenish nutrient deficiencies, heal inflamed digestive systems, and boost mood. Nicole lives in Grey County.
